The Challenge

Launching a new piece of industrial equipment is often difficult because the marketing team has very little to work with until manufacturing is complete. Photography, video production, and promotional content typically cannot begin until the first machine has been assembled and commissioned.

Mpac Group was preparing to introduce its new Horizon packaging line at Pack expo, one of the largest packaging trade shows in North America. The machine had not yet been manufactured, but the sales and marketing teams needed a professional way to showcase the complete production line, explain how it operated, and generate interest before the exhibition.

Without a physical machine available, traditional photography and video production were simply not possible.

Watch the Finished Animation

Seeing machinery in motion is often the fastest way to understand how a production system operates. This animation was created directly from the engineering CAD model and was used to introduce the Horizon packaging line during its product launch.

Why Animation Was the Right Choice

Launching industrial equipment before manufacturing is complete presents a unique challenge. Sales teams need visual content, marketing departments need promotional material, and trade shows often occur long before the first production machine is ready for filming.

Creating the animation directly from engineering CAD models allowed Mpac Group to begin marketing much earlier in the product development process. Rather than relying on engineering drawings or static renders, the company could demonstrate the entire production line operating exactly as intended. The animation also became a flexible marketing asset that could be used beyond the trade show, supporting future sales presentations, website content, and customer discussions.

Working Directly From CAD

One of the biggest advantages of this project was that no physical prototype or finished machine was required before work could begin. The engineering CAD models already contained the information needed to accurately recreate the complete packaging line, including machine layout, guarding, conveyors, product flow, and equipment sequencing. As the design evolved, the visualization could evolve alongside it, ensuring the final animation accurately represented the production equipment while allowing marketing work to progress in parallel with engineering.

The Outcome

By the time Mpac Group introduced the Horizon packaging line at Pack Expo, the marketing team already had a professional visualization capable of demonstrating the complete system in operation. Instead of explaining the equipment through engineering drawings or static images, visitors could immediately understand product flow, machine operation, and overall system layout. The project demonstrated how engineering CAD models can become valuable marketing assets long before manufacturing is complete.

Absolutely. Many manufacturers use animations to demonstrate equipment that is too large to transport or has not yet been manufactured.

Yes. Animation can be integrated into existing product videos or combined with live-action footage to create dynamic marketing presentations.
